Technical Support for PrognosisBC
ESSA has been contracted by the British Columbia Ministry of Forests and Range to provide technical support for PrognosisBC, a forest stand projection model being used by the Ministry to simulate the growth and mortality of individual trees in a stand. The tool is typically used to project an existing stand from a ground-based inventory. Its strengths include an ability to simulate almost any form of harvest and retention, and to simulate the impacts of root disease.
Technical support is being provided on two fronts: 1) a web-based forum where users can post questions and find answers to frequently asked questions and resolutions for known issues; and 2) toll-free telephone support that provides one-on-one assistance to users. Support staff are available to assist with questions about installation, using the model, interpreting results, and understanding model behaviour.
