Strategic Principles and Operational Checklists
for Environmental Monitoring and Reporting in British Columbia
British Columbia Ministry of Water, Land and
Air Protection
ESSA recently developed a set of strategic principles
and operational checklists for the Ministry of Water, Land and Air
Protection to help ensure excellence and consistency, and to incorporate
key elements of adaptive management, in the planning and implementation
of monitoring and reporting programs and projects across the ministry.
We also designed a series of questions to help ministry staff determine
and demonstrate adherence to the strategic principles for monitoring
and reporting.
The government now recommends that these principles
and checklists be used by all Forest Investment Account (FIA) recipients
implementing work under the Biological (Terrestrial and Aquatic)
and Physical Monitoring Activities of the Land-Base FIA Program.
