The Green Team was a group of environmental educators,
sponsored by the provincial government, that visited elementary
schools across the province to deliver hands-on, interactive workshops
on environmental protection and waste reduction. ESSA was engaged
by the BC Ministry of Environment, Lands, and Parks to write a guide
that would provide teachers with a practical means of preparing
for, and following-up on those workshops. Specific objectives met
by the Teacher's Guide ESSA developed include:
 |
communicating to teachers the goals and objectives
of the Ministry's larger Eco Education Program; |
 |
documenting the link between Eco Education and
the Science K-7 curriculum; |
 |
providing teachers with an introduction to the
importance of environmental education; |
 |
providing teachers with a practical guide to preparing
both themselves and their students for the arrival of the Green
Team; and |
 |
providing teachers with a practical guide for
continuing work with their students after the Green Team leaves
the school. |
