IMPACT: A tutorial in Environmental Impact
Assessment
Asian Development Bank
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has specific
requirements for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) that must
be implemented at many stages of its project cycle, and understood
by many different stakeholders. ESSA developed an interactive, multimedia
self-directed tutorial on EIA for the Bank. The primary target audience
was project staff and senior managers at the ADB, with secondary
use by outside consultants and staff from executing agencies. The
training was designed to meet the needs of diverse target audiences
who have different EIA responsibilities, hence different learning
objectives. This objective was achieved by creating a series of
interactive components, some of them modular in form, that can be
readily accessed through a user friendly interface with clear navigational
tools. With multi-media elements to enrich and enhance it, the CD
ROM provides training that users can turn to for initial orientation
to new processes, quick reference, or tutorials on more sophisticated
methodologies, all on a self-directed basis.
