ESSA staff believe in the importance of supporting others in their career and professional growth. In May, Darcy Pickard joined statisticians from across Canada at the Statistical Society of Canada’s 2019 Annual Meeting in Calgary. An invited panel member, Darcy shared her personal journey and lessons learned as an applied statistician in a discussion entitled, Making a Living as an Accredited Statistician: Tips from the Frontlines of Experienced, Successful Accredited Consulting Statisticians. The goal of the workshop was to provide an understanding of the requirements for different types of statistical jobs and strategies for developing and/or enhancing participants’ statistical careers. The workshop was chaired by Janet E.A. McDougall, MSc., P.Stat. (SSC), PStat® (ASA), President at McDougall Scientific Ltd.

More information on the workshop and fellow panelists is here.
